Car Rentals

Seeing Belize by car can be lots of fun.  Keep in mind there are only three main paved highways in the entire country, and they can be a bit of an adventure to travel.  Being a very peaceful country, there are no real dangers in traveling by car except for your fellow drivers, interesting bridges, and tricky potholes.  Gasoline is very expensive, and you can expect to pay premium rates for modest vehicles.  You should also consider buying insurance as international insurance carriers are not recognized.  Also, you will need to present a valid, current driver's license from your home country.  There are several Car Rental Agencies to choose from.  Car rentals are available at the Belize Airport, in Belize City, and there are also two car rental agencies in Placencia if you require a car when you get to Placencia. Average cost for car rental per day is $75US and up.
