We are a small, family-owned guesthouse, not a large resort. We take pride in offering a friendly atmosphere and a clean, comfortable, and affordable place to stay while you enjoy the beach, village, and community.

Our family story

My family's roots in Placencia go back generations. The Leslie family settled here in the late 1800s, long before the village became a popular tourist destination. Before tourism, Placencia was a quaint fishing village where families were close-knit and fishing provided a livelihood for many households.

My father, Lawrence, was a fisherman by trade and a member of a local fishermen's cooperative. But my mother, Julia Leslie, was a visionary and a true entrepreneur for her time. She saw an opportunity to help provide for our family beyond the traditional fishing livelihood and to welcome visitors to the village she called home.

With determination and hard work, my mother established Julia's Guesthouse & Cabanas in the late 1990s, offering visitors a simple, comfortable, and affordable place to stay. Although my mother has since passed, I am honored to continue the business she started and preserve her legacy of warm Belizean hospitality.
